Deputy FM calls for expansion of Tehran-Ankara cooperation

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari on Sunday underlined need to promote the level of cooperation between Tehran and Ankara.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Deputy Undersecretary of Turkish Foreign Ministry Sinirly Oghly to Tehran.

Safari, who is deputy foreign minister for Asia, Pacific and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) affairs, referred to the major priority of Iran's foreign policy toward neighboring countries and called for making use of the potentials of Tehran and Ankara in improving the current exchanges in all fields.

In the first round of the talks, the two sides explored the latest developments in bilateral, regional and international relations, underlining the need for regular consultations between Iran and Turkey.

Safari and Oghly also pointed to the determination of senior officials of the two countries to strengthen and expand mutual relations.
